Chiropractic care brings your system back into its natural state of alignment to promote health and well-being. The relationship between the spinal column and the rest of the physiology—your muscles, joints, circulatory process, nervous system—all function best when the spine is correctly aligned and stabilized.
During your first visit to Prolific Chiropractic, Dr. Roechelle Smith will carefully listen and gather information about your health history, your current condition and hear any concerns you may have. Following this will be a complete chiropractic examination that tests your reflexes and flexibility and employs standard neurological, orthopedic and postural tests. Your consent will precede any part of the treatment process.
Depending upon your needs, X-rays may be taken. Dr. Smith will provide you with a detailed report of the findings and answer any questions that you may have.
Together, you and Dr. Smith will set health recovery and maintenance goals and develop a Health Acquisition Plan. It will include a wellness program that is tailored to your lifestyle, budget and expectations.
The key form of treatment is an “adjustment”, a gentle manipulation of the spine to correct misalignments or dislocations of the vertebrae. Chiropractors are health professionals who are trained to diagnose and specifically treat these spinal subluxations. Returning the misaligned bone to its proper position enables the body to heal.
Other in-office therapies are available to assist with health maintenance such as traction and cold laser therapy. Specific stretches and stabilization exercises will be given at the appropriate time. Nutrition, homeopathic remedies are additional support options.
“After several weeks of office visits and doing the stretches at home that Dr. Smith gave me, I felt remarkably better. I especially liked the idea that I could continue working on my exercise plan at home, on my own time.”---RL

- Once I start treatments do I have to go for a long time?
Results can occur rapidly, depending upon your medical history and condition. Chiropractic is a form of treatment that works WITH the body’s natural alignment and its innate intelligence and ability to heal. Your Health Acquisition Plan will include stretches and exercises that you can do at home to speed your recovery, as well as recommendations on nutrition, homeopathy and healthy lifestyle choices.s
- Is a doctor of chiropractic medicine considered a ‘real’ doctor?
Chiropractors are the only health care professionals who are trained to diagnose and treat spinal subluxations. (“Subluxation” comes from the Latin words meaning “somewhat or slight”—sub and “to dislocate”—luxate.) A chiropractic college grants a D.C. or Doctor of Chiropractic degree, and chiropractors are licensed as health care providers in every state in America as well as in countries around the world. The curricula for chiropractic and medical school are extremely rigorous and very similar. Chiropractic students must complete a residency working with real patients in a clinical environment under supervision from licensed practitioners. Upon graduation, chiropractors must pass multiple sets of national and state board exams. Chiropractors, like medical doctors, are subject to testing procedures, licensing and monitoring by the state and national review boards. Compensation programs cover chiropractic care, and federal agencies accept sick-leave certificates signed by doctors of chiropractic.
